OLYMPIC STADIUMS AND PARKS



Stockholm 1912

Designed by architect Torben Grut, it was built specially for the 1912 Olympic Games.

Stockholm Stadion is the oldest of the modern olympic stadiums which is still in use in it's original design. It was also used for the horse competitions during the 1956 Olympic Games due to quarantine rules in Australia.

Berlin 1936

The Olympiastadion in Berlin was built for the 1936 Summer Olympics. It survived World War II with very little damage. For the 2006 FIFA World Cup it was renovated and was used for 6 matches including the final

Seoul 1988

Barcelona 1992

Known as the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc
It was originally built in 1927 for the 1929 Expo in the city and for the 1936 Olympics which however went to Berlin. It was rebuilt in 1989 to be the main stadium for the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Sydney 2000

The stadium was completed in March 1999 for the 2000 Summer Olympics. It is today known as ANZ Stadium. It was originally built to be able to take 110,000 spectators, which made it the largest Olympic Stadium ever built and the largest stadium in Australia.
