Kahana Valley Hawaii
Norman Shapiro the photographer this week is one of the residents in the Ahupua'a 'O Kahana State Park where he has lived for 26 years.The park is located on the Island of O'ahu 26 miles from Honolulu. The area civers 5,300 acres, ranging from sea level to 2,670 fee.
The beauty of Hawaii attracts many hikers and so does the Kahana Park. Even if the area look very attractive and friendly there has been several unexperienced hikers who have got lost in he area.
A couple of years ago 2 Danish girls where stranded for eight days on a mountainside at Kahana Valley. They where lucky to be rescued and the story about it was followed by media all around the world. Honolulu Star-Bulletin Local News
