Sydney Opera House - AustraliaThe Sydney Opera House is probably one of the most well known Architectual landmarks in the world. Built virtually in the centre of the harbour of Sydney it is impossible to miss when visiting Sydney. The architect, the danish Jørn Utzon left the project already in 1966 after controversial discussions with the new government which took over in 1965. 7 years later the Opera House was finally inaugurated and formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II on October 20, 1973. The internal design was after Utzon's resign taken over by Peter Hall, but after an arrangement made in 1999, some of it has been changed to the original design made by Utzon. This room has been named the Utzon room and was officially opened on September 16 2004 |
